For the last time

One does not necessarily think of it so often in everyday life, but one day every heart will beat for the last time. There may have been more beats than the neighbor’s, but in the end we are nevertheless on the same line; every heart beats its last beat. In this age we meet people and spend a certain time with them, returning to their fellowship perhaps later. Children move away from home, but we know they will come to visit at some moment that suits them. Friends travel far away, but we meet them even after years and recall the past. But when the heart beats for the last time, the parting in this age is final.

The Bible tells of the apostle Paul’s friends, “who all wept sore, and fell on Paul’s neck and kissed him, sorrowing most of all for the word which he had spoken, that they should behold his face no more. And they brought him on his way unto the ship.”

I write now this spring for the last time, but I believe I shall return to the articles later. I wish my readers a richly blessed summer and a hope-filled future. May every heart beat with the love God has poured into it. Also when it beats for the last time.
